Project Experience

Moss Landing Wildlife Area
Monterey County, California

Vinnedge Environmental Consulting is working with Ducks Unlimited to improve habitat conditions at the Moss Landing Wildlife Area, which is part of a large coastal wetland located in Monterey County and situated in the Elkhorn Slough. The wildlife area is owned managed by California Department of Fish and Wildlife and it supports a nesting population of western snowy plover (Charadrius alexandrinus nivosus). Vinnedge Environmental Consulting is responsible for preparing the CEQA document and Biological Assessment to support Section 7 consultation under the Federal Endangered Species Act. They are also preparing an Incidental Harassment Authorization permit application to assess impacts of project construction and operation on the marine mammals located in the project area (southern sea otter, harbor seal and California sea lion).

California High-Speed Rail
San Joaquin Valley, California

Vinnedge Environmental Consulting is working with Westervelt Ecological Services, LLC to provide mitigation in support of a section of the proposed California High-Speed Rail train. The team is working closely with regulators and regional biologists to identify habitats with potential to support San Joaquin Valley wildlife species, including San Joaquin kit fox, San Joaquin antelope squirrel, Tipton kangaroo rat, Swainson’s hawk, blunt-nosed leopard lizard and California tiger salamander.

Dublin San Ramon Services District
Dublin and San Ramon, California

Under a Master Services Agreement, Vinnedge Environmental Consulting provides biological services for construction of Dublin San Ramon Services District water infrastructure projects. We routinely conduct pre-construction surveys for nesting birds and special-status wildlife for projects throughout Dublin and San Ramon and provides construction monitoring services for water infrastructure projects, when necessary.

Elkhorn Slough Foundation, Parsons Slough Sill Project
Monterey County, California

Brook Vinnedge was the lead biologist, project director and contract manager for the regulatory compliance portion of the Elkhorn Slough Foundation’s Parsons Slough Project. The wetland restoration project was funded by a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Restoration Center. Vinnedge Environmental Consulting in association with other consultants prepared all CEQA documents, regulatory permit applications, and grant reporting documents. This included compliance with Section 7 of the Federal Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act. Vinnedge Environmental Consulting consulted on behalf of ESNERR through NOAA RC with USFWS and NMFS for proposed project effects on southern sea otter, harbor seal and special-status fish species.
